Link building

The editor keeps the page either way.

Editorial link building places a mention inside journalism, guides, and references that exist for the reader, not for the link.

The same URL has to rank, be quotable, be named in chat, and be a source in the overview.

A named result is published when that client clears the figure.

Editorial link building

  1. 01 — The gap

The guide mentions every competitor except you.

The writer did not know you, or knew a version of you that was wrong. The page will not update itself.

  2. 02 — The work

    Page list

Live editorial URLs where a mention would help the reader.

  3. 03 — The close

    Reporting

Placements, refusals, and pages we refused to contact.

The work

What this is

An editorial page has an owner, a standard, and a reason to say no. That friction is the point. A mention that survives it is the kind a buyer and a model can both stumble into later.

This is not a guest post farm and not a paid insertion. Guest contributions that the host would publish anyway are guest posts. A small correction to an existing paragraph is a niche edit, and only when the editor asks for it or accepts it.

The problem

What usually breaks

  1. 01

The guide mentions every competitor except you.

The writer did not know you, or knew a version of you that was wrong. The page will not update itself.

  2. 02

Previous “editorial” links came from sites with no editor.

The byline is a first name, the about page is a template, and every post links out to a client.

  3. 03

The anchor is the exact commercial query.

Every mention says the same phrase. It reads like a campaign, because it was one.

The practice

How ShoutRank approaches it

We read the page the way the editor would. If adding you makes it more complete, we say how, in a short note. If it would read like an ad, we do not send the note.

Anchors describe the destination. They are not a list of money keywords.

Sites we looked at and refused because they are not editorial.

Sequence

Process

  1. 1

    Discovery

Name the URL on your site that deserves the reference.

  2. 2

    Audit

Find editorial pages that already explain the topic.

  3. 3

    Strategy

Drop any site that exists to sell links.

  4. 4

    Implementation

Send a specific note. One page, one reason.

  5. 5

    Monitoring

Confirm the published sentence is accurate.

  6. 6

    Optimization

Do not follow up forever. A no is a result.

  7. 7

    Reporting

Placements, refusals, and pages we refused to contact.

The desk

Why ShoutRank

  • Editors, not inboxes

We would rather contact fewer desks than spray a list.

  • The sentence matters

A link inside a misleading paragraph is a defect.

  • Commercial anchors are not the goal

The destination should be obvious from normal words.

The report

How success is measured

  • Mentions on pages that already had an editorial purpose.

  • Accuracy of the sentence around the link.

  • Sites excluded because they were not editorial.

  • A named client result is published when that client clears the figure. Until then the report is the measurement.

ShoutRank does not guarantee a ranking or a citation.
