# The shortlist names a screening tool, not a suite slogan.

Search for HR tech: assessment and screening shortlists, comparisons against the incumbent suite, and buyer-guide roundups. SEO, AEO, GEO, and AIO.
A talent leader asks which assessment fits a 200-person team.

The reply lists three tools. The HCM suite keeps the sentence.

## The board already owns a system of record.

HR software is chosen beside something already installed: the ATS the board signed, the HCM suite payroll lives in, the spreadsheet a recruiting lead still trusts. “Best skills assessment” and “screening software for hourly hiring” are how a champion builds a shortlist before a ticket exists. A homepage about the future of work is absent from that list.

Category pages and buyer guides are where the decision gets its words. Assessment is a different purchase from screening, and both are different from a full suite. Publisher roundups will draw those boxes if the vendor will not: who the tool serves, which incumbent it sits beside, and which buyer should stay on the suite. The first meeting then spends its hour undoing a comparison the vendor never published.

## Best for a hiring motion, then against the suite.

We would build best-for pages, versus pages aimed at incumbents, buyer-guide roundups, and category URLs for assessment and screening.

### Best for

best skills assessment for a 200-person company hiring engineers

Headcount, role family, and the hiring motion. A title that only says “best HR software” belongs to a publisher.

### Against the suite

screening software versus the incumbent HCM suite

What stays in the suite, what the point tool adds, and the team that should not rip the system of record out.

### Alternatives

alternatives to the ATS the board already uses

The job that ATS fails at. A grid of feature checkmarks does not give a champion a reason to add a vendor.

### Category

what is pre-employment assessment software

The border: assessment, screening, and the suite are different buys. The page says which one this product is.

## The pages a shortlist is made of.

We audit the URLs a talent leader would open beside the incumbent, and we repair the ones that never take a side.

### Best-for pages with a hiring motion

Headcount, role, and volume. Each page names the buyer who should leave it and remain on the suite.

### Comparisons against incumbents

The HCM suite and the ATS already in the account, described as classes when counsel will not print a logo. Dated, including the case where the incumbent is the right buy.

### Buyer guides you host

A roundup that compares approaches, including approaches that are not your SKU. The criteria stop living only on a publisher’s table.

### Category URLs with a border

Assessment and screening each get a page: the inputs, the output, and the system of record this product will not replace.

## Cited domains

reddit.com is the most cited domain in HR tech in this snapshot.

This data is accumulated from multiple sources and internal training data, which helps us get the client cited.

A dash means this snapshot has no count for that engine. A zero means the domain was not cited in the measured sample.

## What is at stake

- **Who writes the shortlist.** A talent leader, before procurement opens a ticket.
- **URL that should own it.** A best-for page, or a versus page aimed at the suite.
- **What the suite keeps.** The system of record, unless a page says what the point tool adds.

## Procurement inherits a shortlist the vendor never wrote.

The question is skills assessment for engineers at a 200-person company, or screening that has to live beside the HCM suite. A publisher’s table already has three rows. The vendor site has a platform story. The first meeting is a correction.

## Skills assessment for a company hiring engineers

Headcount, motion, and the suite you will not replace. A buying memo can lift that.

- Two hundred people, engineering roles, and the volume that makes a spreadsheet fail.
- The incumbent suite stays the system of record. This page says what it does not assess.
- Screening is a different URL. A buyer who only needs a knockout question is sent there.

## Sequence

1. **Separate the buys.** Assessment, screening, and the suite do not share one URL.
2. **Write against the installed tool.** Best-for, versus, and alternatives name the incumbent class and the buyer who should stay.
3. **Host the criteria.** A buyer guide on your domain states the boxes a publisher roundup would otherwise invent.
4. **Score the shortlist.** Rankings, citations, share of answer, and demos tied to the URL. A named result waits until the client clears the figure.

We will not title a feature page “best HR software,” or pretend a point tool replaces the HCM suite the board already runs.

## What we watch

We would measure rankings on the shortlist and category URLs, citations inside buyer-guide answers, share of answer on best-for prompts against the suite and the other point tools, and pipeline as demo or trial starts analytics can attribute to those URLs. A named result is published when that client clears the figure. With nothing cleared, those four logs are the report.

A named result is published when that client clears the figure. A client figure is added here only after that client clears it.

## HR tech questions

### Why can’t a platform page win “best skills assessment”?

The query is a hiring motion at a stated size, compared with other point tools and with the suite already installed. A platform story never says who it screens or who should stay on the HCM suite, so the shortlist is written without it.

### Will the versus page name the incumbent vendor?

When counsel allows a named rival, yes. Otherwise the page names the class: the incumbent HCM suite, or the ATS the board already uses. The choice still has to be visible or the page will not be quoted inside that choice.

### What is a buyer-guide roundup on our domain?

A page that sets criteria and shows more than one approach, including the approach that is not this product. It is a decision aid. It is not a feature list with “roundup” added to the title.

### Which category page do you build first?

The one sales already hears in the first meeting, usually assessment or screening. We do not open with a glossary of every HR acronym. Category pages come after the query a champion actually pastes.

### How is pipeline counted if the CRM hides content?

Rankings, citations, and share of answer are still logged. Pipeline is counted only where analytics can see a demo or a trial that started on that URL. A named result is published when that client clears the figure.

## Audit the page the shortlist should open.

Bring the assessment or screening URL, or the comparison against the suite. Booking is the manual audit. One public URL can be scored free.
